I took a left on Merck Avenue
when I should have taken a right
on Exxon Street, at least
that’s what I thought as I drove
mindlessly down Boeing Boulevard
passing concrete barricades
protecting the entrances to
America’s corporate greatness.
Oh no! I just missed my turn
on Eli Lilly Lane.
I have a job interview somewhere
in this vast industrial park
where there are no trees
but miles upon miles of surgically trimmed grass
framed by blinding white sidewalks
not one human has ever walked on.
