white flowing through the black, all the time scared
calling that he had no money. the add on: no ambitions, dreams
beating himself up over it, taken to court, wheelchair pushed
but they pleaded not guilty, had the money for a court appointed lawyer
defense claiming “how can they pay you when the father there doesn’t have a job?”
the pink man turned white. memorized the faces that came apart at the glance
