Editor’s Notes for January 2001
Welcome to Pif’s first issue of 2001! As a part of our mission to be "The
Arts and Technology Magazine," beginning this month, Pif is publishing
electronic versions of its fiction and poetry, in addition to print versions
of the pieces. In other words, you can listen to Liam Rector read his work aloud in
addition to reading his original work in print!
Also, Pif has invited the cyber artist Ted Warnell to do a series of twelve
cover pieces during the year 2001. For a preview of what’s to come, check out
past covers he’s done for Pif in August
and November 2000. Also, view
his currently featured, "Book
of Job," at the Iowa
Review.
Pif is planning several great issues for the year 2001. We’re looking for text
pieces with electronic elements or counterparts. For instance:
- Interviews with authors like Don Dellillo (Body Artist: A Novel
comes out in 02/01) and Erika Krouse (Come Up and See Me Sometime comes
out in 05/01).
- Interviews with music and film industry folks like the musician Wyclef
Jean, the band Pink Martini, the director Michael Apted, or the actor Hope
Davis.
- Unusual cyber art, particularly digital photography and hypertext. Work
that does not easily fit into a single genre is encouraged.
- Commentary that uses hyperlinks, audio (DAT recordings), or video.
For details on how to submit, see our Submissions
Page.
And don’t forget about Pif’s Annual Contest! We’re accepting submissions in
fiction, poetry, and cyberart and giving away $500 in prizes. For more information,
