Editor’s Notes for November 2000
Welcome to our 42nd issue! This month's Pif changes from simply a
literary zine to "The Arts and Technology Magazine." Pif is
expanding its focus to include not only fiction, poetry, and other literary
work but digital photography, digital film, hypertexts, music, original
cyber art, and other fine art. As a part of our change in mission, starting
in January 2001, we hope to further integrate electronic formats that
maximize hyperlinks, audio, video, and other useful literary and artistic
technologies with our normal content.
Also, this month we’re announcing our next contest! We’ll be taking submissions
in fiction, poetry, and cyberart and giving away $500 in prizes. For more
information, go to http://www.pifmagazine.com/contest.
Looking forward, Pif
Magazine will publish several good issues in 2001. Correspondingly,
we need submissions to round out them out. In particular, we need:
- Interviews
* We’re always looking for interviews with authors like Don Dellillo
(Body Artist : A Novel comes out in 2/01) and Joy Williams
(Ill Nature: Meditations on Humanity and Other Animals comes
out in 1/01).
* Also, we’re dying for interviews with folks in the music and
film industry, too like the singer Aimee Mann, the band
Pink Martini, the director Mike Leigh, or the actor Hope Davis.
- Memoirs
- Unusual cyber art, particularly digital photography and hypertext
- Commentary that uses hyperlinks, audio, or video
For details on how to submit, see our Submissions
Page.
Finally, welcome to our new Copyeditor, Rachel Sage. We’re glad to have
you on board.
Now, grab a cup of your favorite blend, and enjoy this issue of Pif.
